Injured bobcat has an attitude

by admin ·

A possibly injured bobcat is attacking people and pets in the Grant-Valkaria area, TCPalm reports.

It was videotaped after attacking a woman and her puppy and is suspected of attacking two horses and another dog.

“There were no witnesses to the injuries that the horses sustained, but there were tracks in the area consistent with a bobcat with an injured leg,” a Brevard Animal Services and Enforcement spokesman told TCPalm. “There were no witnesses to the dog’s injury, and we don’t know if that incident was even an animal attack. However, it is very important that residents be vigilant, keep their animals inside or in sight, and make sure that pets have their rabies shots.”

Mom moons PE class

by admin ·

“Yells, whistling and cheering from the large group of students” at Sebastian River High School drew a deputy’s attention and led to the arrest of a 51-year-old woman for exposing her derriere, TCPalm reports.

The students may have appreciated being mooned, but to the deputy, it was “an act of a nature to corrupt the morals, outrage the sense of public decency” of the PE class.

Lori J. Lauer, who said her daughter was a student at the school, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disruption or interference of a school function.

Beachgoers rescue big squid

by admin ·

We’ve heard plenty of stories about people trying to push a beached whale back into the ocean, but beachgoers rescuing a large squid is a new one on us. But that happened in Delray Beach, TCPalm reports (it even has video).

After bystanders wrestled it into a cooler, a lifeguard took the 3-foot cephalopod, which was spitting out ink by the cupful, out to neck-deep water and released it.

“He’ll probably get eaten by a shark,” the lifeguard told TCPalm. “But I’d rather have [the squid] die in the ocean where it’s supposed to.”
