I received the Kindle as a Christmas gift. This was after I had asked for the Nook Color, got it, and decided that it just was not for me. At Christmas, most of the Kindle’s were sold out, and me being impatient, I decided on the Nook Color. I enjoyed the Nook for a little bit, but I found the screen too difficult for me to read on, which defeated the purpose of what I wanted an e-reader for: To read.

After seeing a Kindle and playing with it’s features, I decided to replace my Nook Color with a Kindle instead. I found the device easier to use, comfortable in my hands, and above all, it had readability that the Nook Color did not possess.

Also, Amazon offers this high quality e-reader at a dynamic price of just $149. This is including the 3G. Those not interested in 3G can get the device for only $99.

Right from the get-go, the Kindle provides an easy to follow guide of welcoming the buyer to the Kindle. As all new things, you need to play with it to figure out how to get it’s system down, but the buttons and the navigation is not difficult to figure out.

The Kindle store has everything you are looking for. The most helpful tool for me has been the “Recommended for You” section, so I can find similar titles to that which I have been reading. As a side note, I have become addicted to playing the Every Word game on my Kindle, which Amazon offers for free.

The Kindle is travels with you. I would suggest getting a good case before having it go around with you everywhere, but it is light and thin, making it easily stored in backpacks, purses, or suitcases.

The battery lasts so long. I can charge it once and be confident that it’s not going to die on me right away. Obviously, your usage depends on how often you have to charge.

The biggest asset that the Kindle holds for me is readability. With the Nook Color, my eyes would become strained and tired, and I would end up with a headache (it reads like a computer screen). The Kindle is easy on the eyes and reads very much like a book; especially out in sunlight.

Overall, the Kindle is travel-easy, has no software mishaps, easy to use, and provides the perfect screen for reading.
