Deputy had fetish, sheriff’s office says

A Polk County detention deputy may have been unnaturally interested in something called spankfinder.com.

Robin Leigh Pagoria, 45, met an online boyfriend through the site, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said, then sent him video recordings of her beating two disrobed and bound girls. Forensic investigators discovered the electronic files, which had been deleted, in her cell phone’s history.

The now ex-deputy has been charged with aggravated child abuse and child porn.

Beekeepers bedeviled by a big, hairy pest

In a lot of Florida, you might not notice the resurgence of black bears unless one wanders into your downtown. But if you keep bees, it might get obvious real quickly.

In the past two years, bears have destroyed half of the colonies at a business that’s been outside Crestview for 15 years, newsherald.com reports.

“I drove over late one afternoon to check the (bee colony) boxes and there were signs where something had been rooting around in the sand near them. I thought ‘coyote,’ but just to be safe I put up a solar-charged electric fence and some wire fencing around the perimeter,” co-owner Micah Redmon told the website. The fencing might keep out coyotes, but the bear (or bears) just ripped it up and scattered it before tearing into the beehives. Other beekeepers are reporting similar problems.

Dumpster diving for methadone

We had never heard of Dumpster diving for methadone, but police say it has been occurring in Ormond Beach, where there is a methadone distribution plant, wftv.com reports.

The plant doesn’t toss methadone into the trash, but it does throw out empty methadone containers, which is enough for some people to try to retrieve and scrape out the residue to create a drink.

Police suspect that a teenager died from such a concoction, but are awaiting autopsy results before filing manslaughter charges against the man they say used two teens to Dumpster dive for the containers.
