D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027) Review

After reading great reviews on this trap, I picked up a pair. I’d had a mouse problem a few years ago, got rid of them using the Victory clothespin type snap traps and poison bait, but recently saw a mouse scurrying across my kitchen floor in BROAD DAYLIGHT! The nerve of that guy!?! Also saw some droppings along the baseboards. Anyway, after the prior problem, we’d sealed everything up leading to living areas except couldn’t get behind the dishwasher so knew they were getting in through there.
Decided to try a new trap even though the clothespin type reusable traps worked ok and liked the fact that I wouldn’t have to look at the guy’s head.
First night, set two traps, expected to see two dead in the AM, but nothing, and in fact they ATE ALL OF THE PEANUT BUTTER I PLACED IN BOTH TRAPS! Well, I decided to actually read the directions and figured out I put the peanut butter in the wrong place – should be a pea sized amount in the center cup – I had placed it toward the back of the trap, thinking the farther back the better. However, the mouse better triggers the front of the trap mechanism by having to dig in the little cup for the food.
So, set it up correctly that morning, and by the end of the day, had caught two buggers. No catches in a few days so I think we got it beat for now.
Would definitely recommend these.
